Over 2000 Kaduna students visit hospitals, prisons at Ramadan

In the spirit of Ramadan, no fewer than 2,000 primary and secondary school pupils across Kaduna State were mobilized by the Muslims Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) to visit orphanages, grave yards, prisons and hospitals to help the less privileged and also draw lessons on the realities learn of life .

The visitation which was organised by members of MSSN as part of Ramadan activities was to ensure the students desist from social vices that would ultimately resort to imprisonment or jail terms, while imbibing the virtues of helping the needy in the society.

Speaking to journalists, the former Amir of the Muslim Society, Mallam Suleiman Mohammad Umar said one of the importance of the grave yard visitation was for the students to ponder over the way and manner they live their lives.

He told the students that they should not attach much interest to accumulation of wealth, material things and politics as being practiced in the country today, saying that this will lead them “into sin because when they die, the money will not go with them”.

The former Amir reminded the pupils that in the grave yard where they stood, lay bodies of past governors of states, senators and presidents, noting that all their wealth and power have been taken over by other people.

He advised the pupils to use the period of Ramadan to reflect on the way they live their lives.

Also speaking, one of the teachers from the State Area Council, Mallam Tijjani Abdul-hamid further advised the students to be optimistic and to devote their time in worship of God and do away with anything that would distract or bring about the wrath of God to their lives.

Abdulhamid added that westernization and civilization will not save them from the grave, just like others when God calls them to account for their deeds on earth.

He prayed that “God should open the minds of the students to put what they learnt today in their daily activities as most of whom were visiting the grave yard and prison for the first time wept profusely as they were overwhelmed by their new experience .“
