Over 40 clubs meet for book conference in Akwa Ibom

The Network of Book Club and Reading Promoters have vowed to fight ignorance and superstition, which have held down Nigeria and Africa, maintaining that its maiden edition of the national conference will help to reawaken the reading culture in society.

The Network of Book Club and Reading Promoters have vowed to fight ignorance and superstition, which have held down Nigeria and Africa, maintaining that its maiden edition of the national conference will help to reawaken the reading culture in society.

Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC), Dr. Ekong Sampson, who made this known in Uyo, said the conference would hold between September 16 and September 18, 2021 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Sampson noted that the conference would attract no fewer than 700 delegates, adding that renowned writers, readers, policy makers and literary icons, would grace the occasion.

He said former Ambassador to Russia, Chief Assam Assam, renowned writers and intellectuals including, Dr. Wale Okediran, Dike Chukwumerije, Prof. Des Wilson, among others, will grace the occasion.
