The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his 80th birthday, describing him, as an iconic leader whose impact would remain indelible in the memories of Nigerians.

The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media, Yinka Oyebode, joined other well-meaning Nigerians to celebrate President Buhari, whom he described as an uncommon leader who has been serving the country from his youthful age to his old age without any blemish.

Oyebanji described the President as a global icon of integrity in leadership, transparency in the management of his nation’s resources and an anti-corruption champion .
Also, the Vice Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, joined to congratulate the President.

Okowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, extended the goodwill of the government and people of the state to the President on the landmark anniversary, saying: “God has been faithful.”
Okowa used the opportunity to commend President Buhari for the completion of the second Niger Bridge, and remarked that it was a demonstration of “political will”

In the same vein, the former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said that “President Buhari has a golden opportunity to write his name in gold by ensuring free fair and credit elections in 2023.”

The lawmaker, said: “As you round off your administration, you have a date with history. I know you will write your name in gold, by making our votes count in 2023. Do it for Nigeria. Do it for Africa. Shame the enemies of open society, and secure your place in the heart of posterity.”

Oyebanji noted that the emergence of President Buhari as the nation’s helmsman was a defining moment in the political history of Nigeria as it marked the first time an opposition leader would defeat an incumbent President, adding that winning another term in office was a testament to Nigerians’ trust in his capacity and competence.

Oyebanji said that President Buhari has worked hard to manage a complex and a heterogeneous country like Nigeria and has shown in his words and actions that he is still irrevocably committed to its unity and indivisibility.
He further acknowledged Mr. President’s purposeful leadership, vision, courage and steadfastness in the pursuit of the right cause and the common good of Nigerians.

Oyebanji added that President Buhari has etched his name in the annals of the country for his legacies in infrastructure, social and economic reforms and for superintending over a cleaner and more credible electoral process in which the votes of the electorate count.

He stated further that the leadership provided by President Buhari has given Nigeria and its institutions confidence in confronting the nation’s challenges and laying the foundation for sustainable future prosperity.

The Governor prayed God to grant the President more long life, sound health and success in all his future endeavours noting that the nation would still need his counsel by the time he would have gracefully exited the Presidency on May 29, 2023.

“On behalf of my family, the government and good people of Ekiti State, we wish our leader and father of the nation a happy 80th birthday and pray that the Lord continue to strengthen him and increase his peace and joy.
