Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated the newly-elected Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, on their election.
The governor also congratulated Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, on their emergence after their election by fellow lawmakers.
He equally congratulated the three new senators and six new House of Representatives members from Ekiti State, urging them to be good ambassadors and agents of positive change in their new assignments.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji described the newly-elected presiding officers for the two chambers of the National Assembly as experienced legislators who are worthy of the offices for which they were chosen by their party and colleagues.
He, however, urged Akpabio and Abbas to use their new positions to assist President Bola Tinubu in translating his ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda into reality to meet the expectations of Nigerians that invested their votes in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyebanji also urged them to use their new positions to give quality representation to their constituents and promote the interests of their state.
ALSO, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, who in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, congratulated Akpabio and others, commended the transparent and peaceful manner the election of the presiding officers of the 10th National Assembly was conducted.
SIMILARLY, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti of the Labour Party (LP), yesterday, congratulated Akpabio, Abbas and others on their election.
Otti, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, also congratulated all LP members across the 36 states of the federation and Abuja for their successful inauguration into the National Assembly.
He described the LP lawmakers as change-agents, who carry the expectations and hopes of Nigerians for a better future on their shoulders.
He charged them to “remain faithful to the principles of justice, fairness and equity.”
MEANWHILE, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has said that the elections of the principal officers in the National Assembly were done across party lines devoid of bitterness and rancour.
Uzodimma stated this in a statement yesterday.
He said that Nigerians should expect robust legislature at that level, in line with the “Renewed Hope” mantra of Tinubu’s administration.
He said: “The unity of purpose exhibited in the past few days and today by members of the 10th Assembly, across party lines, presents the desired serenity in cementing our national unity.”
“I can confirm that members of the 10th Assembly have made good choices in service to the nation.
“As a member of the Seventh and Eighth Assembly, I have knowledge of the personality and character of the elected members of the 10th Assembly leadership and I believe their experiences and commitment to the growth of the nation will come to bear in this new national assignment.
