Senator Lola Ashiru has emerged as the new Deputy Leader of the Senate after replacing David Umahi who was appointed as the Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced the emergence of Ashiru in his new position during plenary on Wednesday.
Ashiru, who represents Kwara North in the red chamber was previously the Deputy Whip of the Senate.
His former position as the deputy whip has now been taken over by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Eebonyi North.
The appointments were made only a day after the Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, complained that the legislative proceedings in the upper chamber since the beginning of the 10th senate were not in conformity with its rules and regulations.
