Osun State governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has set up a seven-man committee to revamp, and reposition the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), to make it a leading light in broadcasting as envisioned by the founders.
While inaugurating the committee yesterday, the governor charged the members to prepare the ground for the revitalisation of the state-owned broadcast media to meet the challenges of a technologically-driven world.
He urged the committee to examine the station’s content, facilities, operations and personnel, attuning them to the requirements of the 21st century broadcasting and international standard, to deliver the desired optimum performance.
The committee, chaired by Obaniyi Akinwale, is expected to submit its report in two weeks.

Other members are Mr. Olabode Awe (secretary), Mr. Taiwo Ojewande, Mr. Kayode Akinsola, Mr. J. Ayo Makinde, Prince Yeye Oyedokun and Mr. Edmund Obilo.
At the ceremony attended by the management of OSBC led by the director-general, Mrs. Adejumoke Akinjiola, the governor charged the committee to find out the challenges militating the station’s optimum performance and recommend solutions.
He also directed the committee to examine the broadcast content and equipment stock available and make appropriate recommendations to improve operations.
“Inauguration of this committee is symbolic because of its importance and impact on the agenda of this administration and the life of the state.
“OSBC remains the voice of government to the people of Osun and vice versa. It is therefore an ally in the efforts of this administration to deliver quality service and development to the people,” the governor added.
In another development, the former governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has urged religious leaders, and Nigerians at large to emulate the late archbishop of Gospel Baptist Church, Magnus Atilade, who he described as honest.
He spoke at the Nigeria-Cuba Friendship and Culture Association and Nigeria Movement of Solidarity with Cuba programme in honour of the archbishop held at Mushin, Lagos State, yesterday.
Aregbesola explained that Atilade was a rallying point and an exemplary leader.
He said: “We will sorely miss him, as the depletion of the ranks of genuine leaders and cadres of that tendency continues unabated, with little success in the project of replacing them.
“Nevertheless, those who continue in their commitment to the struggle for a better world, whatever their inspiring principle or adopted strategies and tactics, will continue to see Bishop Atilade as a shining example.”
