FG to flag off Ojoo-Iwo Road section of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The much-anticipated Oyo Highways Stakeholder Engagement Forum, organised by Hon. Akin Alabi, Chairman of the House Committee on Works, was successfully held at Felicia Hall, Jogor Center, Ibadan, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss federal road projects in Oyo State.

A major highlight of the event was the announcement that the Federal Government will officially flag off the reconstruction of the Ojoo-Iwo Road section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday. This development marks a significant step toward improving road infrastructure and connectivity in the state.

The forum drew top government officials, contractors, security agencies, and community leaders, including prominent lawmakers such as Hon. Olamiju Alao-Akala (Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire), Hon. Remi Oseni (Ido/Ibarapa East), and Hon. Lateef Olaide Mohammed (Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo).

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, was represented by the Maye Olubadan, Chief Lekan Alabi.

In his inaugural speech, Hon. Akin Alabi emphasised the urgent need for collaborative efforts to address Oyo State’s road infrastructure challenges. The Minister of Works, represented by the Zonal Director for the Southwest Ministry of Works, delivered a speech outlining the Federal Government’s assessment of roads in the state and the planned interventions.

Contractors working on federal road projects in Oyo State were given an opportunity to provide updates on project progress and funding challenges. The discussions helped foster a deeper understanding of the obstacles affecting road construction and the steps needed to accelerate development.

The Oyo Highways Stakeholder Engagement Forum concluded with commitments to enhanced collaboration between the state and federal government and increased stakeholder engagement in road projects.

With the upcoming flag-off of the Ojoo-Iwo Road section, residents of Oyo State can expect significant progress in road infrastructure, ultimately easing transportation and boosting economic activities in the region.
