Founder and Creative Director of OOBIUKU Clothing, Ozioma Okonkwo, has been presented with an award in recognition of her creative talent but also her influence within the industry.
The event, La Mode Magazine Green October Event, is an annual ceremony that fuses fashion, advocacy, and charitable causes, particularly spotlighting awareness for persons living with disabilities.
Celebrated both in Nigeria and the UK, La Mode Magazine’s Green October Event is known for its elegant runway shows, philanthropic initiatives under the La Mode Disability Foundation, and the assembly of Nigeria’s fashion and entertainment elite.
The 2022 edition, themed “More Than Disability”, was a star-studded affair with the presence of heavyweights from the fashion industry, showbiz, and advocacy sectors.
Awarded by reality TV star Liquorose, the honour acknowledged Okonkwo’s growing impact and the cultural resonance of her couture brand. Since founding OOBIUKU in 2017, she has crafted over 800 custom bridal and couture designs for elite clients, with her work celebrated for merging cultural elegance with modern luxury.
“I’m deeply honoured to be recognised among this year’s awardees. Fashion is my language for empowerment and storytelling, and I’m grateful that the Green October stage amplifies both creativity and humanity, she said.
