The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has restated that youths in Nigeria have all it takes to solve the nation’s political, economic, social, and cultural problems and move it forward.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has restated that youths in Nigeria have all it takes to solve the nation’s political, economic, social, and cultural problems and move it forward.

National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, who stated this at the PDP national youth summit, South-East edition, held in Awka, Anambra State, at the weekend, organised by the party’s national head office, said the youth would be fielded to contest for political positions in 2023 general election, insisting that they are catalysts for development and progress of Nigeria.

He lamented that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government had silenced the youths, leaving many unemployed, hungry, and impoverished.

Secondus, who stated that the theme of the summit, “Youth in Governance: PDP the platform,” would help to prepare youths for leadership roles in the country, said: “In a moment like this when the country is in crises, we come together to brainstorm and marshall out the way forward.

“We are here today to share ideas, look at the past, present, and project the future.”

He described youths as very intelligent, articulate, and capable to build alternative sources of energy to power homes, industries, and offices as well as ICT to create employment.

Earlier in his welcome address, the PDP National Youth Leader, S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye, said the summit would help to integrate youths into the mainstream of governance.

Udeh-Okoye, who recalled how the PDP empowered many youths between 1999 and 2015 when it was in power, said that the summit would be organised in other five geo-political zones, urging the youths to support the PDP and use it as the platform to save Nigeria from worsening calamities.
