PDP wins two senatorial, three House of Representatives seats in Bayelsa
APC clinches three slots, Kebbi, Kwara PDP, Bauchi NNPP reject polls results
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won two senatorial seats in Bayelsa West and Central districts, as former Commissioner for Works, Ewhrudjakpo Lawrence, polled 49,912 in the West zone, while Diriwari Douye, emerged in the Central district with 83, 978 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results of the Bayelsa State Senatorial and House of Representatives polls in spite of rejection and protests from the PDP.
Details of the results showed that the PDP won three of the House of Representatives seats, while APC won two.
The Senatorial seat for Bayelsa East was won by Degi Wagara of APC with 43, 303 votes to beat the PDP candidate, Ipiganai Izagara, who polled 32, 363 votes.
Other winners are, Israel Sunny Goli (APC Brass/Nembe 1); Agbedi Fredrick Y. (PDP Ekeremor/Nembe); Preye Influence Oseke (APC Southerm Ijaw); Stephen Sinikiem Azaiki (PDP Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma) and Obua Azibadu Fred (PDP Ogbia).
However, Kebbi State PDP has rejected the elections results in the state.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday at the party office in Birnin Kebbi, its Chairman in the state, Haruna D. Saidu, said last Saturday’s election was marred by several irregularities.
He explained further that APC-led government used traditional rulers and security agencies to harass their supporters to achieve their objectives.
“The election, which results were submitted to Abuja declaring President Muhammadu Buhari winner in Kebbi State was not free, fair and credible,” he added.
But in his response on telephone, APC Spokesman, Sani Dododo, denied the allegations and urged Kebbi people to ignore the claims.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State chapter of PDP has also rejected the outcome of the polls as announced by INEC on Wednesday.
Speaking with reporters yesterday in Ilorin, PDP Chairman, Kola Shittu, said the party took the decision after a thorough review of conduct of the elections, which it said, were marred by widespread irregularities in different parts of Kwara.
Also, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has rejected the results of the polls in Bauchi.
