The Person-Centred HIV Research Team (PeCHIVReT) has officially launched as a global collaborative dedicated to advancing person-centred HIV science that translates directly into policy and care. According to its co-founders, the group will design studies around the lived experiences of people affected by HIV, ensuring that research findings are decision-ready for ministries of health, providers, and community programs.
The founding team members are AbdulMuminu Isah, Principal Investigator; Gabriel Ezenri, Co-Principal Investigator; Chukwuemeka Nwachuya, Research Coordinator; Jennifer Onyehalu, Assistant Research Coordinator; and Charles Idabor, Administrative Secretary.
PeCHIVReT’s research agenda focuses on implementation science and pharmacoepidemiology across HIV prevention and treatment. This includes improving access to and adherence with PrEP, advancing person-first care models for people living with HIV, and strengthening health outcomes for underserved populations.
The team emphasised that PeCHIVReT will operate as a global platform, building partnerships with universities, ministries of health, NGOs, and community organisations worldwide. Findings will be disseminated through open-access publications and policy briefs to maximise reach and impact.
The launch establishes AbdulMuminu Isah and Gabriel Ezenri in continuing leadership roles as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, respectively. Together, they will drive the scientific strategy, coordinate external collaborations, and oversee the translation of research into actionable policy.
PeCHIVReT also announced the creation of training pathways for students and early-career investigators, aimed at strengthening research capacity and accelerating the real-world adoption of evidence-based practices.
