Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, will deliver the keynote address at the Nigeria Youth Conference and Debate Contest Winners Awards in Awka, the state capital, today.

The event is the highlight of the Nigeria Youth Conference and Debate Tournament that started on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
Sponsored by the Southern and Middle Belt Alliance (SaMBA), the event with the theme: “Towards Increased Youth Participation in Politics,” began with the preliminary rounds on Wednesday with over 100 students competing for their opinions on national issues at the final stage.

No fewer than 15 tertiary institutions and youth groups from the South East, South West, South-South and Middle Belt will participate in the debate tournament, which centres on Rotational Presidency and Nigeria’s Democracy.

One of the organisers, Beatrice Okocha, stressed the need for more politically- minded intellectual exercises to be conducted for youths.
