Petrol Still Sells At N130

NIGERIAN-FUEL-STATIONFUEL still sold at N130 per litre in Zamfara State yesterday despite the Federal Government directive to filling stations in the country to revert pump price from N87 to N86.5 per litre. Almost all the fuel marketers were yet to comply with the new directive.

Investigations conducted by The Guardian on the compliance of fuel stations in Gusau, the state capital and its environs revealed that apart from a few Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) mega stations, most of the major marketers refused to open their filling stations.

The Guardian also learnt that majority of the independent marketers that opened their filling stations were still selling the petroleum product at N130 per litre.

A journalist who bought fuel at Mailittaffai filling station along Zaria Road, Gusau at about 2:30pm, Attahiru Ahmad, told The Guardian that he bought the fuel at N145 per litre despite the federal government directive to revert to N86.5.

He said: “I went round looking for fuel as I couldn’t get it in all the major companies except in some independent marketers’ filling station where I got it at N145 per litre. This is very embarrassing.”
