PHOTOS: Nandap tours Southwest borders, re-affirms commitment to e-border security

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has extended her border assessment tour to Lagos and Ogun States in Southwest Nigeria. This initiative aims to bolster border security and streamline migration management.

During the tour, Nandap stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in combating trans-border crimes.

According to Immigration spokesman Kenneth Udo, a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration in Lagos, Nandap engaged with key stakeholders, including the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The discussions focused on facilitating the operations of NIS personnel within the state. Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Nandap’s leadership and expressed readiness to support the Service’s initiatives.

“At Seme Border, Idiroko, as well as Lagos and Ogun State Commands, the CGIS updated officers on new immigration initiatives. These advancements are part of the ongoing drive to modernize Nigeria’s border security infrastructure.

“She reiterated her commitment to officers’ welfare and capacity building and urged them to maintain a high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties,” he said.

Additionally, Nandap held a joint security meeting with sister agencies to enhance collaboration in intelligence gathering and sharing, emphasizing the critical role of border communities in supporting security efforts.

The tour concluded in Ogun State, where Nandap met with traditional rulers, including HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, and HRM Oba Prof. Saka Adeola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom.

She also met with Ogun State Governor Prince Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, to discuss logistical support and land provision for barracks construction.

The NIS remains committed to implementing digital strategies for enhanced border governance and national security.
