The Nigeria Police Force has announced the fifth edition of its annual Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, set to take place from Monday, February 24, to Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The announcement was made by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, during a briefing on Friday, January 24, 2025.
He stressed that the event, which gathers senior officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police and above, serves as a crucial platform for evaluating the Force’s internal security performance. It also aims to develop strategies for improving service delivery and enhancing internal security in the country.
The conference, first held in Lagos in October 2019, has become an annual tradition, organized by the Inspector-General of Police in collaboration with Lenders Consult International. The retreat offers a forum for senior officers to exchange ideas and improve policing outcomes.
This year’s conference is themed: “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing.” The opening ceremony will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Special Guest of Honour.

Other dignitaries expected to attend include the Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, State Governors, the National Security Adviser, Legislators, Ministers, the Chief of Defence Staff, and heads of other security agencies. International guests from across Africa and beyond will also participate.
The theme highlights the importance of inclusive policing in fostering national security and economic growth, aligning with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, to transform the Police Force into a more professional, service-driven, and people-friendly institution.
The retreat will provide a platform for police managers and global policing experts to engage in peer review, share best practices, and explore innovative approaches to community-based internal security management.
At last year’s conference, INTERPOL President, Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, praised Nigeria’s leadership in international security and committed to further collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
Dr. Egbetokun remains focused on enhancing the Force’s capacity to fulfill its mandate while supporting the Federal Government’s goal of economic prosperity and national development through professional policing strategies.
