Police arrest 3 for fraud, impersonation, forgery in FCT

The statement, signed by the spokesman of the command, ASP Anjuguri Manzah on Friday, said one of the suspects was arrested for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of N5 million.

The Police in the FCT have arrested three suspects in connection with fraud, impersonation and forgery, a statement has said.

The statement, signed by the spokesman of the command, ASP Anjuguri Manzah on Friday, said one of the suspects was arrested for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of N5 million.

It said the suspect, who resides in Keffi, Nasarawa State, duped members of the public of the money with “a promise to offer them employment in Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

“The suspect is helping the police in their investigations. Members of the public are advised to always use the appropriate channel when seeking government employment’’, it said.

The statement added that the suspect arrested in connection with impersonation had been presenting himself to the public as “the Comptroller-General of Immigration.’’

It said the suspect “signs and collects approved land allocation documents from FCDA.

“The suspect is assisting the police in their investigations and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded’’, it said.

On impersonation, the statement said a female suspect, who operates a business centre, conspired with a fake policewoman earlier apprehended by the command, to forge police identity card, had been arrested.

It said the suspect was arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
