Police arrest hunters in Edo for shooting guests at burial ceremony

The Edo State Police Command has arrested two hunters, John Ebatame and Moses Okoyomon, for shooting and injuring six persons at the burial ceremony of the late Martina Rabi in Ama community of Esan South East Council.

The Edo State Police Command has arrested two hunters, John Ebatame and Moses Okoyomon, for shooting and injuring six persons at the burial ceremony of the late Martina Rabi in Ama community of Esan South East Council.

A statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kontongs Bello, yesterday, in Benin City, confirmed that the men committed the offence on Friday, June 25, 2021.

“On June 25, 2021 about 1900hrs, Edo State Police Command through the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbede Division, CSP Iredia Ogiata received information that there was shooting at Ama Community,” he said.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Phillip Ogbadu, warned against threats to life with arms and ammunition and enjoined the people of Ama Community not to take the laws into their hands, as the police was investigating the incident.
