Police reaffirm commitment to security as new command headquarters opens in Taraba

The Nigeria Police Force has reassured of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property through professional, intelligence-led, and community-oriented policing.

The assurance was given by the commissioner of Police, Taraba state command, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, during the commissioning of the new Taraba State Police Command Headquarters Complex and B Division Yorro in Jalingo.

The projects were officially commissioned on June 24, 2026, on behalf of the governor of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas, by retired commissioner of Police Cyril Agyole Abeh.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police at the event was Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, while the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), Alhaji Muhammad Sheidu, served as the chief host.

Speaking , the Inspector-General’s representative described the newly commissioned facilities as a major milestone in strengthening policing infrastructure and enhancing operational effectiveness in Taraba State. He noted that the headquarters complex and divisional office would improve command administration,
intelligence management, operational coordination, and rapid response to security challenges across the state.

He also stressed the importance of proper maintenance of the facilities and urged officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, accountability, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.

Representing governor Agbu Kefas, CP Cyril Agyole Abeh (Rtd) commended the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for executing the project. He described the development as a significant boost to security and socio-economic growth in Taraba State and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in maintaining peace and public safety.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund said the projects reflected the Fund’s determination to bridge infrastructure gaps within the Nigeria Police Force. He added that the Trust Fund remains committed to improving the welfare and operational efficiency of police personnel through sustained investments in infrastructure, equipment, and training.

The command expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, the Taraba State Government, traditional institutions, community stakeholders, and all individuals who contributed to the successful completion of the projects.
