Police set up squad to tackle cattle rustling in Kano

KANO State Police Command has established a squad to check the activities of cattle rustlers in the state.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Katsina, during the inauguration of a renovated police station and handing over of a new Toyota Hilux van at Gani village in Sumaila local council of the state, at the weekend.

While inaugurating the station, Katsina commended the member of the State House of Assembly representing Sumaila constituency, Alhaji Zubairu Masu, who donated the vehicle and renovated the police station to support the fight against cattle rustling in the area.

The squad would be headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, and is to be based in Gani town, stressing that not less than 500 specially-trained policemen would be deployed to the area alongside Falgore forest on Kano-Jos high way.

“Tactical Operation Points have been established along the Falgore forest highway which links Kano with neighbouring states of Kaduna, Bauchi and Plateau. An ambush squad has also been established to address the activities of armed bandits and cattle rustlers in the area,” he disclosed.

Katsina assured that the Command was doing its best to rid the area of cattle rustlers.
