Police smash two militant camps in Cross River

Cross River State Police Command has raided two militant camps in Bakassi Council of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, made this known, yesterday, while featuring on Sparkling FM Radio programme in Calabar, ‘Let’s Talk Nigeria’.

Worried over renewed militant activities on the waterways, the CP lamented the killing of his marine policemen sometime ago.

He said trouble started when suspected militants attacked a petrol station in Bakassi and his men engaged them in a gun battle.

He, however, stated that his command was working closely with other security agencies and local chieftains to ensure that criminal activities in the state is brought to the barest minimum, especially in the Bakassi and Akpabuyo councils of the state.

On recent rival cult clash, which left three suspected cultists dead in Obudu Council, he said some suspects had been arrested and investigation had begun.

“We have intervened in the matter. Our Anti—Cultism Squad are on top of it even as we are on the trail of suspected sponsors,” the CP stated.
