Police urge public support for war against criminals

Nigeria-PoliceAssistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 10 (Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States), Mr Tambari Yabo, says community-based policing will be strengthened to mobilise all in crime prevention.

Yabo, who announced this during interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Sokoto on Thursday, solicited the support of the people of the zone in the fight against crime and criminals.

Yabo said prompt report of dubious characters in the society would enable the police to apprehend criminals for prosecution.

He said security measures that would enable residents move on with their legitimate businesses had been worked out.

“The three Commissioners of Police in the zone had been briefed on various security strategies to be adopted in their respective states.

Yabo called for more working understanding with traditional rulers in mobilising the people on the need to offer intelligence reports on movement of dubious characters in their midst.

He said that vital intelligence reports on movement of such characters in the society would greatly assist in dealing with unforeseen situation.

Yabo called on officers and men of the zone to continue to put in their best, adding that diligent and hard working ones would be rewarded while those found wanting would be sanctioned.
