President approves suspension of NSITF boss, others
The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Adebayo Somefun, has been suspended from office. Also suspended are Executive Director (ED), Finance and Investment, Mr. Jasper Azuatalam, ED, Operations, Mrs. Olukemi Nelson and ED, Administration, Tijani Darazo Sulaiman, among others.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, in Abuja yesterday, said that the suspension was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari. Ngige, who stated that the suspension of the officers arose from the preliminarily established prima facie infractions on the extant Financial Regulations and Procurement Act, and other acts of gross misconduct, said that the suspended officers would face a joint board and audit investigative panel.
that was set up to look into the financial and procurement breaches, as well as gross misconduct in the NSITF for period 2016 to date, which have invariably put the contributions of stakeholders in a perilous state.
