President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday restated his administration’s commitment to deliver its promises and provide good governance through the principles of accountability, transparency, honesty and the rule of law.

He, therefore, urged all Nigerians, corporations, public and private institutions to work together to fight corruption and liberate the country from the scourge.

He spoke during the launch of four anti-corruption postage stamps with the inscription “Say no to bribe, fraud, bunkering and theft” at the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) headquarters in Abuja.

The president observed that corrupt practices had become endemic in the polity that the nation’s corporate existence was being threatened. He added that the vice had impacted negatively on the country’s reputation and created obstacles to local and foreign direct investments.

According to him, the nation’s economic growth, global competitiveness, general development have remained stunted due to corruption.Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal, the president observed that to wipe out corruption, a multi-dimensional approach was required.

Buhari urged the citizens to embrace the use of electronic postage stamps for transactions of N1,000 and above.The Minister of Communications Technology, Adebayo Shittu, said the government resolved to reform NIPOST to strengthen the agency’s capacity to establish more outlets in unserved areas for essential service delivery.

He commended NIPOST for developing the special postage stamps, adding that government was aware of the need to modernise post offices and make them commercially viable nationwide.

The Post Master General of the Federation, Bisi Adegbuyi, said NIPOST was proud be part of the existing administration’s crusade against corruption with the introduction of the special postage stamps.
