President seeks confirmation of seven new ICPC members
Seven new members of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
In the accompanying letter read on the floor of the Red Chamber, yesterday, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, those nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari include, Justice Adamu Bello (rtd) from Katsina State and is representing North West; Hannatu Muhammed (Jigawa) is also representative of North- West; Mrs Olubukola Balogun (Lagos) is to represent South West.
Other members are Obiora Samuel Igwedibia (Anambra and representative of South- East); Niger’s Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Sadu is representing North Central; same for Prince Dauda Yahaya Umar from Nasarawa State, while Delta’s Dr. Grace Nkechinyere Chida is South-South representative.
The President, in the correspondence, said the nominations are in accordance with the provisions of Section 3 (3) and 7 of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Act 2000. He urged the Senate to expedite action on screening and confirmation of the nominees.
