Presidential candidate promises four million jobs
The Presidential Candidate of People’s Trust (PT), Joel Gbenga Olawepo Hashim has promised to create four million jobs yearly to boost the economy and engage unemployed youths across the country.
Hashim stated this in Enugu after series of consultation with Igbo political elites, stakeholders and leaders of thoughts.
He said his campaign team has created a blueprint on how to achieve this objective, adding that it was not one of those empty promises made by politicians before elections.
He said: “We intend to expand our GDP to $4trn within a short period, as a way of boosting the economy and making the ease of doing business favourable, so that people can come for business transactions and activities.”
While acknowledging that the Southeast has been marginalised by successive governments, Hashim vowed to address imbalances in the region by creating an additional state within the first six months of assumption of office through a legislative framework.
He said: “The 2019 election will be a referendum on Nigeria’s future, its peace, stability, security and continuity, and most importantly about the country’s prosperity.”
