WOMEN professionals have called on governments and its agents to enforce relevant laws when female sales professionals in business report cases of sexually harassment.

They also asked that corporate organisations be held culpable for any form of sexual torture of female workers on their premises.

This call was made at a Sexual Harassment Conference in Sales organised by The SBA Group with the theme, “Is the Nigerian sales and business environment conducive for female professionals?”

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, noted that it is unfortunate that some corporate organisations still deliberately expose and encourage their female sales professionals to sex harassment through pressures to meet sales target. Companies should adopt the best form of practices and other sales strategies that could enhance sales for their organisation.

“Government has become more determined by coming up with laws and stringent measures against perpetrators of the dastardly acts. Victims should break the culture of keeping silent to complement various efforts to tackle this menace as reports indicate that many victims shy from reporting because they fear that the police may reveal their identity and be stigmatised.”
