OLUBADAN of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana yesterday clarified that the promotion of high chiefs in his domain was not intended to spite the state governor , Abiola Ajimobi.
The monarch while expressing appreciation to e critical stakeholders that resolved the face-off between the Olubadan in Council and the governor over the promotion of nine chiefs said the exercise was done to avoid a court injunction.
“Olubadan did not ask the high chiefs to disobey the governor but they did it for a simple reason to beat any form of injunction which the Seriki line may want to take to stop their promotion exercise. If they had kept the exercise for Friday or Saturday the promotion might not have taken place.”
The monarch who spoke through his son, Prof Femi Lana thanked the Ibadan Elders Forum and other stakeholders for their efforts .
“The consultations before the meetings that resolved the issue were explosive, especially on the 48 hours ultimatum given by the governor. We thank God that our elders and notable individuals stepped into the matter and resolved it amicably.”
