Property worth thousands of naira, were yesterday destroyed, following clashes between hoodlums around Oko-oba plank market, Ebute Meta, Lagos.
Many residents were also robbed of their belongings in the ensuing fracas.
According to an eyewitness, the hoodlums whose ages are between 17 and 20 years, began the fracas around 6:00a.m., with many shops looted.
A resident, who spoke in confidence, said the boys use the plank market as a hideout to perpetrate their illegal activities.
He urged the Lagos state government to expedite action in relocating the market from there.
Attempts to get reaction from the Lagos State Police spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu, proved abortive as calls and messages sent to his mobile telephone number were not responded to.
