BUSINESS activities in Yola have been paralysed, as hundreds of youths took to the streets demonstrating against what they described as selective demolition of relaxation spots in the state capital by Governor Jibrilla Bindow-led government.

The Guardian learnt that what provoked the youths was the presence of a director from the Ministry of Environment who was accused of addressing those selling alcoholic drinks and those drinking as unbelievers and also saying that all non-indigenes must vacate the area.

The protest, which started from Bekaji Estate and spread to other parts of the state capital, almost snowballed into bloody clash when the peaceful demonstration was joined by some civil servants in the state.

The protesting youths accused the governor of harbouring political grudges against the Bekaji residents for not voting for him during the 2015 general elections.
