Rainbow Medical Centre partners institute to train health workers

Rainbow Specialist Medical Centre in collaboration with The World Foundation and Podiatry Institution USA has trained health workers from different part of the country in diabetes foot care.

Speaking at the 4th Podiatry and Diabetes Foot care Workshop in Lagos, Medical Director Rainbow Specialist Medical Centre, Dr. Afokoghene Isiavwe, said the aim was to improve management and prevention of diabetes foot complications and raise awareness on proper foot care in persons living with diabetes mellitus through much needed trainings via regular interactive workshop sessions adding the five-day workshop was yearly event.

She said the training has helped partner health care facilities to commence basic diabetes foot care services. She noted that several hospitals from the primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare, state and federal owed, private hospitals, and non-profit health institutions have benefited from the training programme.

She stated this year’s training featured several international and local specialists, including two Nigerian Podiatrists in Diaspora as part of improving the training.
