Religious leaders have been accused of contributing massively to the problems in Nigeria through their lavish lifestyle and over-indulgence in materialism.

Founder/president of Re-educating Africans on the Risk and Dangers of Unplanned Journey Abroad (RARDUJA) International, Eddy Duru, stated this yesterday in Owerri during a chat with The Guardian.

According to the Nigeria Agency for Prohibition of Tracfficking in Persons (NAPTIP) ambassador, religious leaders must be made to understand their position and to play their roles effectively, especially when the government fails.

He stated that activities and lifestyles of most religious leaders, who are looked up to by their followers, led to the death of many and left others in hopeless conditions.
