Fasina donates 350 books to students
Twenty-four years after, lead pastor of Ignite Churches, United Kingdom (UK), Revd. Olalekan Fasina, returned to his alma mater, the Federal Government College, Odogbolu, Ogun State, to deliver a lecture on the power and secrets of academic success. He also made a donation of 350 books, one for each of the final year students and an additional 35 for each of the heads of subjects.

Travelling down memory lane, he recalled with excitement how last Tuesday, November 24, 2015, he drove through the massive gates of the school to be warmly received by the Principal, Mrs. A.N. Bassey-Duke and other senior members of staff.
“I was so moved to see the same buildings where I had studied; the staff primary school where I used to go to hide away and study for hours, the assembly hall that was a place of celebration of success for me; and the hall that I had received so many certificates of merit, trophies and prizes.
“Supported by my colleagues, Tayo Akintunde and Seun Ige, we set about the task of speaking to the students about the power and secrets of academic success with gusto.”

Speaking on the tips for success, Fasina listed hardwork as the recipe for success. “I explained that the greatest secret of memory was re-reading their class notes, revision notes and textbooks several times over. I told the young learners that repetition is the mother of learning. The only reason why we remember the national anthem is because we have repeated and sung it many times over. I encouraged them to do the same with their academic work.

You have time as a young person, spend it studying. You can play sports and participate in school leadership and other work, but dedicate quality time to studying. I reminded them of one of my favourite sayings, which is ‘if you are alive, time is all you have because life is made of time,’” he advised.
