A 16-year-old girl, Khadizat Labaran, rescued from gunmen that abducted her a few weeks ago at Ganaja Junction, Kogi State, and taken to a forest in Nkwere, Imo State, has finally been reunited with her parents.
Labaran, was found by a good Samaritan in Nkwerre on July 7.She was roaming the road aimlessly, and when questioned, she narrated how she was kidnapped by some hoodlums, who forced her into a vehicle and blindfolded her.
She narrated how she was taken into a bush, until she escaped, not knowing where she was before a resident in the community took her to a police station in the area.
She was subsequently taken to the command headquarters in the state by the Divisional Police Officer in the area.
After The Guardian ran the story, the police spokesperson in Imo State, Henry Okoye, in a statement, yesterday, said the command liaised with Imo State Ministry of Gender Affairs and Vulnerable Group, who traced her parents in Kogi, and handed her over to them.
Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, had pledged the command’s determination to ensure maximum security of life and property.
