Residents protest power outage

RESIDENTS of Obudu Local Council of Cross River State have protested over lack of electricity by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC).
The placard-carrying protesters marched through major streets of the town to the council secretariat where they registered their displeasure over the development.
A spokesman for the group, Emmanuel Obuahtold reporters that the protest was a result of frustration by the people who have living without electricity despite high tariffs.
“We have been complaining about the irregular power supply and continuous use of the arbitrary estimated bills, yet they have ignored us,” he said.
Another protester quipped: “We deserve to enjoy the dividends of democracy like everyone else. There is wind of change blowing across Nigeria. It should also extend to PHEDC”.
