Restructuring is Nigeria’s way forward – Celestine Omehia

Renowned legal luminary and former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Ngozichim Omehia, has reignited the national conversation on restructuring with the release of his latest book, Restructuring Nigeria: The Way Forward, published by Harmony Publishing.

The book, set for release on September 24, 2025, examines Nigeria’s historical journey, current realities, and the urgent need for constitutional reforms to ensure equitable development, unity, and sustainable democracy.

Omehia, who has decades of experience in governance, law, and public service, argues that Nigeria’s survival as a nation depends on restructuring. According to him, “Restructuring is not just an option but a necessity if Nigeria must achieve genuine federalism and unlock its full potential.”

The former Rivers State Governor, whose tenure in 2007 was marked by peacebuilding initiatives in the Niger Delta, emphasizes that the book is both a call to action for policymakers and a guide for ordinary citizens determined to shape the country’s future.

Published in English, the 300-page work highlights strategies for tackling economic disparity, political tensions, and the fragile unity that continues to challenge Africa’s most populous nation.

Beyond his political career, Sir Omehia has long been an advocate for constitutional reforms. His new book consolidates his position as one of Nigeria’s strongest voices on the need for a system of government that fosters accountability, justice, and inclusive development.

“Every Nigerian who desires a better tomorrow must engage in this conversation,” Omehia stated, urging citizens to move beyond rhetoric to constructive action.

Restructuring Nigeria: The Way Forward is expected to resonate widely with political leaders, academics, students, and concerned Nigerians who seek a clearer path toward national stability and progress.
