Return to site or lose contracts in seven days, Yusuf warns contractors

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a stern warning to contractors handling 5-kilometre roads to return to their sites or risk losing the contracts.

The 5-kilometer project, initiated during the second tenure of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso to develop rural communities, was abandoned for eight years by the immediate past administration.

After a series of meetings with the contractors, Governor Yusuf assured prompt refunds and payments for the completion of the critical rural and urban infrastructure.

However, some of the contract handlers have yet to return to their sites.

Governor Yusuf gave the warning when he flagged off the 5-kilometre construction at Kunchi town in Ghari local government area (LGA).

He expressed his appreciation to the people of the area for their patience, support, and cooperation, and instructed the contractor handling the project to fully mobilize to the site within one week.

Before flagging off the 5-kilometer road project, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, in the company of his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and other members of the State Executive Council (SEC), commissioned a township road in Yandadi town.

A statement signed by Sanusi Bature, spokesperson for the Governor, assured the public of the Kano State Government’s readiness to provide all necessary infrastructure to ensure academic activities at the College continue without interruption.
