Richard’s love for the screen

Richard-Nwosu-2KNOWING full well that acting is not a bed of roses, Richard Nwosu, with a positive mindset, gave it a shot and since then, he has never looked back. Fondly called Richie by family and friends, the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State trained accountant has featured in many films including, Sex Slave, My Fantasy, Tears Of The Ghetto, Life Is Beautiful and Faded Feelings among others. Besides acting and filmmaking, Richard has also done a couple of modelling jobs for TV and billboards. In this chat with GERALDINE AKUTU, the filmmaker shares his passion.

What prompted you to go into acting?

    For long, I had had the passion for acting, but properly went into it when Nollywood came to into being. However, funny as it may sound, ASUU strike prompted it.

How long have you been acting?

  For over 10 years.


What kind of movies do you feature in?
   I have featured in all kinds of movies and would continue to feature in any movie, so far the story is well told and the cast is good.


What distinguishes you as an actor and a filmmaker?
  An actor only gets hired to interpret a character/role on set, but as a film producer, the work starts from planning before shooting to post production. So, I play both roles effectively.

What do you consider before accepting a movie role?

   I consider the story, cast, crew and finally the money involved.


How do you combine your role as an actor and film producer?

  I try to balance them by proper planning and delegation of duties. Nonetheless, it’s really tasking.


What inspires you to do your movie?

  Movie inspiration comes from a very good story. Thank God my wife writes.

Who are your role models in the film industry?
   Role model in Nollywood is Pete Edochie and Hollywood is Denzel Washington.

What’s your take on Nigeria film industry?

  The movie industry is growing rapidly, but still has some flaws. I believe we can do better and we will surely get there.

 It’s Scarface.

Are you working on anything new?

  Yes, it’s a movie titled Web Of Love. It is produced by EllaRich Entertainment. It will be out soon, because we finished production last year.

 Simple, trustworthy and focused.

 Denzel Washington. Because he is a man of class.

Your uniqueness of style
 I love to wear well-detailed outfits and also to look smart in whatever I put on.

Favourite colour and why?
  White is my favourite colour because it is a sign of cleanliness and purity. I try to maintain that standard.

  Jimmy Choo.

 Corporate attires.

  It’s Richyrich clothings.

 My wristwatch.

How often do you upgrade your wardrobe?
  I upgrade as soon as I discover the need.

 The beach is a place I love to unwind after working so hard.
