A Pro-democracy and non-governmental organisation, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has expressed shock and sadness over the demise of Mr. Nnamdi Inyama, Deputy Editor of The Guardian.

A statement signed by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko in Abuja yesterday said the late Inyama was a very resourceful journalist, who at a time worked in the flagship of the Nigerian media as the News Editor.

Onwubiko added that as far as the rights group was concerned, the late Inyama remains one of the most dedicated newsmen that Africa produced.

He said: “Permit us to state without any fear of contradiction that the late Inyama was one of the most patriotic, transparent, clean, incorruptible and devoted media workers who did everything within human ability to play his role as the conscience of the nation and the bearer of objective, truthful and balanced news stories in the best traditions of professional excellence that The Guardian group of newspapers is known for and venerated.”

He, however, prayed for the repose of his soul and urged his immediate constituents to be consoled with the abiding belief that he is resting in peace.
