The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the appointment of its candidate in last year’s governorship election, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, as the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA) as well deserved.

A statement issued yesterday by the state Chairman of the party, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said the appointment would foster development in the maritime sector of the economy.

“Based on what we know about Peterside, we make bold to say that his appointment is a case of putting a square peg in a square hole,” the party chair said.

Ikanya described Peterside as a “tested and trusted reformist-minded administrator, who has all it takes to reform and transform NIMASA into the pride of Nigeria and Africa.”

He noted that Peterside comes well prepared for the task of breathing a new life into NIMASA.

“Peterside is reputed as an authority in corporate strategy and business-government relations.

“He is a well-known champion of reform and strengthening of institutions as key to unlocking development potentials.

The party expressed confidence that the new NIMASA DG would perform creditably in his new assignment and commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister for Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for their confidence in him.
