Rivers PDP berates Cole over alleged insecurity
Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council has taken a hot swipe at the governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, for describing the state as unsafe.
The party described Cole as an enemy for allegedly demarketing the state to advance his political interest, saying that his comments t are mischievous, dishonest and spiteful.
In a statement in Port Harcourt yesterday, Director of Information and Communications of the state PDP Campaign Council, Emma Okah, said Cole’s comments were unfortunate and unbecoming of a clergy who should see truth as sacred.
“If the state is unsafe, why is he moving to and from different parts of the state holding rallies, attending church programmes and pushing his hollow campaigns without molestation?” Okah queried.
Okah, who described Cole as a joker, said there was no known record of his (Cole’s) contributions in any way towards the security of his Abonnema Local Council or even the state, adding: “While the state government battled the Federal Government since 2015 to accord Rivers State similar co-operation extended to other states in terms of crime fighting, Cole saw nothing wrong in what the centre was doing to his state.”
He said that the state government had shown leadership by tackling security challenges in the state.
Besides, the campaign council director alleged that Cole embarrassed himself when he said he did not see anything positive that Governor Nyesom Wike had done in Rivers State since 2015.
