Members of the Rotaract District 9110 have embarked on a tree-planting campaign in the club’s bid to sustain the environment and mitigate the effect of greenhouse gas.

In tandem with the theme for the tree-planting exercise across the world this year, which is ‘In Harmony with Nature,’ Rotaractors from District 9110, led by District Rotaract Representative (DRR), Abdullahi Afolabi, embarked on its maiden One Rotaractor, One Tree Challenge, with the pledge to plant 120 trees.

The district also adopted a students’ relaxation park at Government Senior College, Agege.

Principal of the college, Mrs. Bola Alamu, thanked the Rotaractors for choosing the school for the adoption and beautification of the relaxation park, also known as the school roundabout.

According to Afolabi, safeguarding the environment is a collective responsibility of everyone.

Afolabi, who called for aggressive tree planting by all Nigerians to boost afforestation, urged the government at all levels, individuals and communities to encourage tree planting to fight land degradation.
