Assistant Governor of Zone 22, Rotary Club, Rtn. Peter Itawawansa, has urged Nigerians to plant economic trees to protect the environment.
He also tasked them to clear overgrown weeds within their premises to enhance healthcare, saying: “Health is wealth.”
Itawawansa made the call, at the weekend, in Ugbolu Primary Health Centre, Oshimili North Council of Delta State, when the rotary clubs of Asaba Government House, Asaba Downtown, Okpanam Hilltop, Issele-Azagba Uptown and Asaba Bonsaac and Rotaract clubs under District 9141 Nigeria, carried out a four-in one project at the heath centre.
While calling on spirited individuals and corporate organisations to contribute their quota to support maternal and child care, he listed items donated to the health centre to include mattresses, pillow cases, bed sheets, window curtains, hand hygiene materials, sanitary waste bin, as well as planting of economic trees to protect the environment and clearing of overgrown weeds within the premises to enhance health care service delivery for the end users.
Itawawansa said that the gesture was in line with visions of rotary clubs globally, adding that rotary activities were about the upliftment of people.
