Rotary Club takes free medical outreach to Lekki community

In carrying out its service to humanity mandate, the Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1, District 9110 Nigeria, has embarked on a free healthcare outreach to residents of Ogombo community in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The beneficiaries, numbering over 220, enjoyed free medical check, eye check and consultancy, while those who required special attention were assigned to a doctor to be treated. Besides, 150 free eyeglasses, eye-drops and medication were given to beneficiaries with impaired sights and hundreds of mosquito nets to everyone in continuation of its ‘Kick Out Malaria’ project.

The District Governor, Rotn. Adewale Ogunbadejo, who was represented by the past Assistant Governor, Lanre Adedoyin, noted that the impact of the initiative on the community was immeasurable, owing to the fact that health is wealth.

Reiterating that the project addresses one of club’s areas of focus, which is diseases prevention and treatment, Ogunbadejo urged beneficiaries to use the materials given to them judiciously, and not resell o others, while adhering to the instructions of the medical personnel.

President of the club, Rotn. Chijioke Omile, said they carry out this type of project twice a year in different communities, adding that the next community to be visited later in the year is Mayogun.

“We look at communities around us that need intervention and support them as much as we can. We have other services to render throughout the year like the wheelchair project and visit to the orphanage,” he said.
