Rotary Int’l District 9111 is set to present scholarships to 20 successfully screened brilliant and indigent undergraduates selected across universities and polytechnics in Ogun and Lagos states.

Chairman, District 9111 Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF), Alàba Olalekan disclosed that “each of the awardees will receive N200,000 for school fees, feeding allowance and textbook each semester.”
Olalekan said: “Pioneer District Governor Rotary International District 9111, Dr Wole Kukoyi will present the beneficiaries with cheques on Tuesday, April 8, 2015 at Rotary Centre, 8 Ladoke Akintola St, Ikeja GRA, Lagos at 9am.”
He revealed that “thorough screening was conducted for successful brilliant and indigent applicants nominated by over 74 clubs and computer based aptitude test (CBT) was conducted by West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on March 20, 2025 at Ikeja, Lagos”.
He added that, “successfully screened 200 level and HND1 polytechnics undergraduates are being awarded scholarships to complete their studies, in line with Rotary focus on education and skills development.”
“The DEWEF Fund was established by District 9110 (now Districts 9111 and 9112) in the 1991-92 Rotary year to cater for the needy and indigent students in tertiary institutions and to support the District’s intervention efforts on education, he stated.
Also, Dr. Kukoyi added that, “DEWEF is an acronym of Rotary District Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund, and its purpose is to help brilliant but poor indigent students in tertiary institutions in Lagos and Ogun States of Nigeria, to fund their education and provide for their welfare.” Kukoyi stated that “Rotarians have been voluntarily donating with a view to achieving the objective of this educational cause”.
Kukoyi added that DEWEF Board of Trustees District 9111 is being administered by Past District Governor (PDG) Somo Omoniyi as Chairman; PDG Giwa-Osagie; PDG Omotunde Lawson; District Governor- elect, Henry Akinyele; District Governor- nominee, Bukola Bakare; Assistant Governor Valentine Somoye and District Treasurer, past President Tayo Hassan.
