Rotary moves to promote selflessness in pupils

For pupils of secondary schools in Lagos and Ogun to imbibe the virtue of selflessness, Rotary International, District 9110 comprising Lagos and Ogun states organised an essay competition based on the 4-Way Test Advocacy of the club.

Speaking during the competition, the District Governor, Bola Oyebade, said the test was initiated for schools, with a view to teaching students how to be upright using the 4-Way Test, which apparently would affect their thinking, reasoning and action.

Chidera Angel Okoye of Christhill College, Amuwo came first; Amarachi Ibe of Ultra International School, Akute, was first runner up, while Jeremiah Bolu Adebanjo of Ajuwon High School, Ajuwon, was second runner up. Jay Esemudje of Corona Secondary School, Agbara won the Outstanding Presentation Award.

Meanwhile, the 2020-2021 President of Rotary Club of Isolo, David Olaniyi Taiwo, has handed over to Rotarian Raji Tejumola Taiwo, as the club’s new president.

Giving account of his stewardship at the handing over fellowship and official commissioning of vocational and training centre within the club’s secretariat in Ire Akari Estate, Isolo, Taiwo said projects executed during his tenure included donation of face recognition and temperature scanning equipment, visit and donation to orphanage homes, clearing of blocked drainage and carting away of debris, eye screening and donation of glasses with drugs, and tree planting across Lagos.

The club’s new president promised to continue from where his predecessor stopped, promising to execute projects in the seven areas of focus of Rotary.

Similarly, the President, Rotary Club of Festac Town, Anselem Alokha has said his priorities would revolve around the projects the club had set for itself for the year.
 
Speaking during his investiture and new members induction, he said from the responses of the guests at the occasion, he was hopeful that those who made pledges during his investiture would redeem them.
