Rotary tasks members on community service

The Rotary International District 9111 has urged its members to undertake community service projects in line with the tenets and ideology of the club. The pioneer District Governor (DG) of the club, Oluwole Kukoyi, who gave the adviceduring his official visit to Rotary Club of New Oko-Oba Metropolitan, said the imperative of community service could not be over-emphasised.

Kukoyi expressed happiness with community service interventions from members of the Rotary Club of New Oko-Oba Metropolitan.
He acknowledged their roles in the area of education, health and social services.

The DG further urged the members to be gender sensitive and embrace diversity. He, however, encouraged the members to contribute to the Rotary Foundation to access grants. On his part, President of the club, Saka Mohammed,said that the club, which is just three years old, had executed a number of projects.

According to him, such projects include distribution of books and school bags to an inclusive school in the community, adding that persons with disabilities also benefitted.

Kukoyi, however, lauded the efforts of the club for inducing four new members. The inductees promisedto contribute their quota to the development of the club.
