Russian AI-powered taxis take the wheel in Africa

Russian technology companies are providing taxi-navigating services in Congo, Senegal, Cameroon, and Zambia, as reported by DeepTech, a prominent news media company focusing on groundbreaking technological news. The active export of products and services, including to African countries, was announced at the economic and humanitarian forum “Russia-Africa”.

“Collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence between Russia and the African region can serve as an example for other countries, demonstrating how joint initiatives and fruitful cooperation lead to success and economic growth,” noted Vladimir Ilichev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, in an interview.

Over 800 organizations in Russia are actively developing technologies based on artificial intelligence, with nearly 90% of them being identified as promising startups. Their insightful analysis estimates the volume of the Russian market for AI-powered products exceeded 550 billion rubles in 2021, and in 2022, it grew by 15% to almost 650 billion rubles, as outlined in their recent report.

According to DeepTech correspondents, six research centers are currently working on creating artificial intelligence, with their technologies being in high demand not only in Africa but also in Russia. Notable companies leading the AI revolution include Sber, MTS, Gazprom Neft, Yandex, Aeroflot, Russian Post, and Tatneft.

The success of Russian AI-powered taxis in Africa, as reported by DeepTech, signifies the potential for further technological collaborations and advancements between Russia and the African region, paving the way for economic growth and fostering innovative initiatives worldwide.
