Sani May Drag APC To Court Over Suspension, Says Aide

SHEHU-SANISENATOR representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has threatened legal action against the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kaduna Chapter, over his purported suspension by the party, as claimed by some party chieftains in the state.

Besides, a faction of the party had written a letter of invitation to the senator last Wednesday to appear before a disciplinary committee within seven days over what was termed his “anti party stand.”

Speaking to journalists at a press conference in Kaduna yesterday, his Senior Legislative Assistant and Director General of his campaign organisation, Alhaji Rabiu Khalid, issued a warning to the APC faction, led by Alhaji Shuaibu Idris, saying if it filed to retrace its step on the planned suspension, the senator would be forced to institute an action at the court.

He said the faction “has defamed Sani by claiming that he is involved in anti-party activities.”

Khalid added: “What they call anti-party are his criticism of the government’s anti-people policies and programmes, which is obvious to everyone in the state.

“From now till 2019, Sani will continue to challenge any of Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s policy suspected or adjudged to be anti-masses.”

He vowed that the senator would not honour any invitation from the group because he does not recognise it or know the person that signed the letter.

He reaffirmed the senator’s position that the acclaimed party chairman and secretary in the state “are mere appendage of Government House.”

Khalid accused el-Rufai of sponsoring the said suspension of Sani, stressing: “This is out of fear of his overwhelming popularity and performances.”
