Sanusi To Support NILS’ Dialogue On Economic Reconstruction

THE Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has pledged support for the initiative of the National Institute for Legislative Studies (NILS), to organise a national dialogue on economic reconstruction and the way forward for Nigeria.

The Emir made the remark during a courtesy call on him by the management of the Institute led by its Director General, Dr. Ladi Hamalai. Hamalai said that the depth of knowledge that the Emir possesses in the area of economy would be of great benefit to the programme, adding that the proposed dialogue will fit into the policy direction of President Muhammadu Buhari government.

In his response, the Emir, who spoke through an interpreter, applauded the efforts of the Institute in advancing legislative practice and contributing to national development.

He acknowledged the request of the Institute and promised feedback in due course. The National Dialogue on Economic Development and Reconstruction, which is scheduled to hold in October, is intended to demonstrate the role of legislature in promoting good governance and its wider role in steering the Nigerian Economy.

It is hoped that the dialogue would provide an avenue for all the stakeholders to engage and interact on the current economic challenges facing the country and explore ways to rehabilitate and reconstruct social and economic infrastructure in the country.
