Sanwo-Olu, Ali-Balogun, others for book launch
Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and the state’s Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Ali-Balogun, will grace the unveiling of “The Eastern Side of Yaba Town” tomorrow, June 4, 2024, at Osun Hall, Lagos Airport.
The anticipated event promises to explore the rich history of the only elementary institute in Yaba and its impact on Lagos educational landscape.
“The Eastern Side of Yaba Town,” authored by David Olusoga Fayemi, delves into the story of Ladi-Lak Institute and the broader context of elementary education in Lagos.
A lecture, with the theme: “Elementary Education: An Untapped Panacea for National Rebirth,” which aims to highlight the critical importance of elementary education in fostering national development and rebirth, will delivered by Prof. NwudegoChinwunba of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Akoka.
The book will be officially presented and launched by the First Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Adeniyi Adebayo, with Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dr Ernest Ndukwe, serving as the co-launcher.
Other distinguished guests expected at the event include Maj.-Gen. Ike Nwachukwu (rtd.), Justice Ayotunde Phillips (rtd), Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu, and Justice Funmilayo Atilade (rtd).
The launch will also honour some living iconic teachers of yesteryears, recognising their invaluable contributions to the field of education and their lasting impact on the community.
